aerial re-supply crate #1 "a drop too far"
"The CRAtE system, as well as the DROPS Village system made a big difference to our troops being resupplied in the field, especially with the distances involved with operations on Snakefish North.
Occasionally however, long range patrols, OP's or even troops left in the open as "bait" needed a tactical re-supply from the air. The Valkyrie deployed parachute canisters were ideal for this and were used to good effect... except on rare occasions when their contents were either missing or wholly inappropriate..."
Regimental Diaries, 349th AF(R)this model as an objective was inspired by the scene in the classic war move "A Bridge To Far" where embattled Paras, low on ammo and food are dropped supplies from the air. they fight to the pods and one contains nothing but red berets... a commentary on the general balls-up Operation Market Garden was. I don't like doing negative things like this on the whole, but its a funny concept with an historic inspiration...
I have left a few helmets scattered around and some inside- I imagine a frantic trooper searching the bottom for ANYTHING useful, before walking off to cry somewhere!
