Origins of the Fimir (From Tony Ackland)

Shortly after reading our thread on The return of Zoats and Fimir to Warhammer Tony Ackland very kindly sent me this picture

^This is Tony's original concept sketch for the Fimir (you'll notice it's a colour scan of the original image!)

“Graeme Davis was tasked with writing up a new race for WFRP. He based them on a picture of Alan Lee's on a book to do with Fomorians. I was then given the job of creating a race that were similar to the creatures depicted By Lee but which were different enough to avoid any accusations of them being a rip off. Bryan Ansell came up with the Zoats. If you are familiar with Poul Anderson's Polesotechnic League stories you will realise where he got the idea.” - Tony Ackland

When I asked about where the idea of kidnapping and ritualistic rape as a method of reproduction came from Tony replied "I think that was Graeme in one of his dark moods, but I can't be sure."
