For those of you how have it WinRAR should be able to open the .7zip file. Thank you Billiam Babble for the WinRAR info.

Re: Old Warhammer Bits

I'm struggling a bit with the links, but I'm sure I'll get there in the end.  Is this the very first edition? I seem to remember something in black and white, or maybe I'm just thinking of random Citadel supplements.  I'm really interested in very old versions of rules at the moment (RPGs mainly, but WH was the first mass battle system I remember seeing).

This must have been it ...

Hello Billiam Babble,

Its good to hear / read you are looking into the older editions of Warhammer for the RPG elements and pieces.

To your 1st point, I hope you have had more luck with my links . I have tried the ones on this page. They seemed to work for me when I tried them. A few things to point out:

I. If the links are for a .7zip file you will be taken straight to the download page.

II. If the Links are for a .pdf file you will be taken to a view document page.  The page will load up or try to load up the document in an on screen viewer.
[ This is a new feature of the file storage site, that allows people to view stuff while online.]

To Skip the online viewer: click on the download button. This will take you to the download page in the same way as step I.

III. Once on the Download page proper click the download button. Then Save the File to your computer or electronic device.

IIII or IV. If the download does not start: click the download button again. Or refresh the webpage.

V. If download still dose not stat after clicking the button. Try right Mouse clicking ( or what ever is the equivalent is on your electronic device.) and chose save target as.... [ example from IE 11] form your right click menu. Then save the File to your computer or electronic device.

VI . If non of those steps are helpful contact me / leave a reply message and I will see if I can fix the problem.

As to your 2nd point about which version of Warhammer: On this page the links are for Warhammer Fantasy Battle 2nd Edition.

The Photo you have is for Warhammer Fantasy Battle 1st edition and the expansion Pack Forces of Fantasy. The Following Page has links to  the 1st edition documents:
http://the-lost-and-the-damned.664610.n2.nabble.com/Old-Warhammer-Items-td7578554.html

Note: On the above page I linked to there is a download for Citadel Compendium 1  colure and black and white. Yes Colour is spelt incorrectly. It should be spelt colour :). THE important part is that both documents should be downloaded as they have a differnet layouts and content check the page numbers of each one.

In regards to Warhammer Fantasy Battle 1sted  The 1st book has battle rules and monster stats. The 2nd book has magic rules. The 3rd book has the adventure / basic role play rules more for GM style adventure battles. Basic Experience system for  Warriors and Wizards. There are no rules for how Life points work ( It is a magic statistic that is supposed to be important for long running campaign game ie RPG 's. In Book 2 they say refer to Book 3 for full details. Except there are no in depth rules in book 3 I have checked. :( .

Check out this OldHammer Blog  for RPG bits :
http://oldhammerasrpg.blogspot.com/

It is a cool read and may give you some ideas.

If you are looking for Warhammer 1sted RPG the big thick book version
That is in fact basted off around Warhammer 3rd edtion. In the same way as Blood bowl 1sted and Warhammer 40K 1sted Rouge Trader, are all basted off WH 3rd ed.

Anyway hope this has helped you find some of the things you are looking for.

Happy Adventuring, and safe questing to all :) .

Re: Old Warhammer Bits

Billiam Babble
Thanks for all of this.  I already have two physical copies of WFRP (1st)  and Warhammer Quest. As a DM I played D&D mostly, but I seemed to have been a player in other peoples Warhammer RPG games, despite it not being my first choice of system. I found the professions too "civilised" - which seems like nonsense now - also the game seemed very fused with the Olde World setting, when I liked making up my own continents. I now realise that these would have been minor issues for a more confident DM :)

I think the issue I'm having regarding the downloads is with my extraction software on the ipad - I'd have this solved in a second on a PC but I'm barely leaving the sofa when I browse the web these days!  I thought my copy of FastZip was supposed to handle 7z files, but clearly not. Apps, silly, single function apps...

Thank you so much for the links to WH 1st ed. as well - I'm really looking forward to givng them a browse.

Hello Billiam Babble,

I am pleased you have found this treasure chest of resource helpful and inspiring.  I would like to hear more of your views and Ideas on the RPG and adventuring side of things. Once you have had ample time to sift through these gems.

You are amazingly lucky to have copies of the WHFRPG 1sted. Every time I have tried to read it (in the past) I found it confusing in different ways each time... Anyway that is the topic for a whole different help thread ... Next time on My Mothers an ork and my uncles an  Chaos Alien Tea vender... How do I tell them I am a 2 inch plastic gaming peace form the planet Zearth ? ...

On a more practical point (( NOT sharp) Just do not forget to wear the safety glasses and hard hat. You never know when you need them. You only know if you forget them it is too late.)

I have found a list of programs that that should be able to open the .7zip file formats I have used to compress my files.
These programs are for use on Mobile Phone devices and computers.

Please Note I have not tried these programs myself as I do not have any of the fancy hi tech phone thing -amy- jigs.
Also an Important note the list I have is for free software you should not be paying any monies for them.

Stick the product name into a we browser to find the links.

On Apple products
Macs - The Unarchiver v 3.9

i devices - iZip V 7.01 -Free Version NOT the Payed Version.

- ZipApp Free  V 2.3

Android Products -

AndroZip V 4.6.4
7Zipper V 1.28
ZArchiver V0.71

PC Linux

PeaZip
7zip
There are portable versions of Both 7Zip and PeaZip avalible.

Windows 8 phones:

Archiver V 2.0

For anyone who is using a Raspberry Pi
see this page:

http://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=38430

As an aside : I do find it rather annoying  that for each of these application programs you have to go through so many pointless hoops and herdels just to get them to work... This should also be an other topic .... How The Online shops and constant  always on line connections assumption has made having your stuff and enjoying yourself a Hassel... Ok I will stop there before things get off topic.

I do hope though that at least 1 of these (or sum of these ) programs will help you and other around be able to open the documents and enjoy them on your mobile devices.

happy sailing on your quest for adventures and lost booty.

Hello Wraith knight,

The photo Billiam Babble posted with the darker books as you call them are in fact Warhammer Fantasy Battle 1st edition. The expansion Pack Forces of Fantasy are the brown covers. Along with The Book of Battalions.

The Following Page has links to  the 1st edition documents:
http://the-lost-and-the-damned.664610.n2.nabble.com/Old-Warhammer-Items-td7578554.html

Hope everyone has had a good time over Christmas and the New year.
