This isn't based on anything in particular from 40k, but wouldn't it be cool if the marines had a compact transport vehicle, i was thinking 2x2" or 2x3" in size. it would have space for 2 marines, one driver and one being transported. It would shoot with 3 red dice, same as assault cannon when a marine is in the drivers seat, but only directly in front of the vehicle.
attack: 3red dice assault cannon. armor : 3 move: 8 why bother? advantage: - ability to move marines with heavy weapons around faster - marine with bolter can be driver and hence shoot with 3 red dice - marines in the vehicle get armor value 3 disadvantage: - cant shoot to the sides or behind - not effected by order cards. - if vehicle is destroyed, the marines inside are killed. - can be driven by aliens when unoccupied by marines. (except dreadnaught) It think this would add an interesting tactical element to the game. This is the kind of thing i was thinking of, here is a photo of a Ford Bronco vehicle i made when i was a teenager for a similar game, on my then brand new 486 computer. (man, i'm old lol) however a more 40k-ish/space marine-ish vehicle is needed with better graphics :) |

Went to Morts once to play SC and used some dungeon boards that had large open spaces.
And even then, I don't think there's ever much use for something like this, sadly.
Mankinds first mistake; Questioning why those around him, are dying.

Instead of a small vehicle, maybe some small remote control robot.
This is more for, lets say storm troopers clearing a hulk, if there were no marines about. (They cannot be everywhere.) It could be a servitor, or by using an old 40k epic model as a romote control mine to clear mass enemy scum. I like this and I would like to try it when im in the uk next. Game on guys.

I did something similar to this in a game last year, check out my Space Pirates thread.

Hmm - I feel I must be honest with you can say I think this is all a rather silly idea, I really don't see Space Marines zipping around in little electric cars Space Mutiny style ...
^ Roll Fizzlebeef First of all, due to the enclosed spaces I see Space Crusade as a 'Foot-Troops only' type environment. Also I don't see how even vehicles the size of the ones depicted would turn the 90-degree corners in a corridor. yes you could argue that Dreadnoughts mange it, but only just (and arguably only because they have legs) - their bases take up 4 squares so they have only just enough room to move and of course they have restrictions on going though doors (the whole having to stop and duck thing) and yes The tarantulas in Mission Dreadnought manage it too, but only just because the 3 squares they take up need be in a very carefully planned place to have the room to turn - also they can only Move or Fire, plus they only move at walking pace now ... - compact transport vehicle - space for 2 marines, one driver and one being transported. - ability to move marines with heavy weapons around faster - cant shoot to the sides or behind - if vehicle is destroyed, the marines inside are killed. That puts me in mind of a Space Marine Attack bike ^ This is never going to fit down a corridor Well there is a president for this the form of the C.A.T. 's in Space Hulk – I've ran Space Crusade missions with C.A.T.'s in them giving them Move 4, Armour 2 and no attacks. But it's not such a stretch to attach a Storm Bolter to that (Also Take note of the Tau Drones in the rough draught of Tau Rules I posted)
but yea a 'mine-cart' type transport system would be good for a mission based on a planet or some kind of 'asteroid mine' type setting, but I can't see that sort of thing an Space Hulk or Starship (Turbo Lifts aside)

Which is exactly why I'm expressing my opinion that; small vehicles (especially Jet Bikes) zipping around in the tight claustrophobic confined spaces of the winding maze of corridors and small chambers that make up the innards of a Space Hulk is rather silly To put this in a present day context - you don't see the Navy using motor bikes inside of Submarines (and please, please no one site some stupid CG effects filled action movie you've seen with an example of this)

But now you have said it mort, someone will do it.
Maybe some one from GW. LOL

Heyo,
I was actually think more along the line of something like the one in the foreground with a nice machine gun mounted to the bonnet: and while probably not practical on something as small as a submarine, may be practical on something as big as a aircraft carrier. (I've always assumed the space hulks are massive ships, looks huge in the drawing, i could be wrong though) I agree that turning circle would be an issue for most vehicles, but these can turn literally on the spot by driving the wheels on each side in different directions. These would not be taken on every mission, but avaliable as an option for missions where the space marines have to trek to the far side of the hulk for the objective. |
I would just use something like C.A.T. from space hulk.
Have each marine party have a remote controlled wheeled gun unit. 1 marine would be dedicated to controlling. This would be the only one that can control and see through it's camera. once killed then the C.A.T for that team is rendered mobile and dead.
