Mantic Orcs coming soon.

Hi everyone,

thought I'd post up the latest Mantic stuff. Good to see them keeping up the same pace of releases, hopefully we'll see a good few more armies from them then perhaps some more units for established armies.

Here's the basic Orc sprue:

And the command sprue:

Looks like there's a fair amount of variation to be had. I'd have liked to have seen a few more heads, but other than that they're ok.

Some completed orcs:

The leader model 'Krudger':

Orc 'Gore' rider, these guys will be in the same resin-plastic as the revenant knights:

A goblin (I suspect for herding the contents the next picture)

These are going by the name of 'mawbeast', I can see why.

Overal looks like the orcs will be a good adtion to mantics range. Definitely good to see some more plastic fantasy figures in any case. A test set of rules for them is available here over on mantic's website.

Very tasty indeed - Im tempted to buy a box or two from them, the prices are really nice, and I could really use a bunch of zombies/orcs, etc while roleplaying - the only thing thats keeping me from doing it is the painting :/
I dont really trust my own paintingskills, dont want to end up with green blobs instead of proper orcs.

Mantic have done really well again, these have a nice classic orc-y look to them while at the same time looking fresh and ... well ... Mantic-style! The not-quite snotlings are a nice touch and just the kind of little extras we've come to expect from mantic, the 2 examples of Goblins we've seen from Mantic look good too and I'm looking forward to seeing more ... I don't need to buy any more Orcs and/or Goblins by any stretch ... but I may well buy some the Mantic kits anyway

I agree they're a little more slender than the GW orcs, they're still really chunky compared to mantics incredibly dainty elves and quite realistically proportioned humans (well undead humans anyway!).

My thoughts would be that they'd make good nobs/big'uns compared to your classic GW orcs, as they're taller without being massively muscle-y. I'm certainly going to buy a box, 15 or so will be more than enough for skirmish play.

Yea I'm thinking Mantic Orcs for Black Orcs (will have to check for size first though) - going back to my "Da Fightin' Urkz of Da White Hand Clan" idea, for which I already brought Citadel Plastic Black Orcs (have to find something else to do with them!) these will look good with my LotR plastic Troll and also fit better down dungeon corridors than the Citadel Plastic Black Orcs. Not only that but the Mantic Orc's different 'style' of Orc face will make it clear these are a different 'breed' of Orc.
So yea maybe getting a box of these will be a boost  to me getting some work done on "Da Fightin' Urkz" project and then I can run my "Da Tower of Orkfang" adventure for Quest! ... well as soon as I get the Warlock Solomon and his assistant Wurmface finished ... oh and I need to get a Treeman ... and I'll need to borrow some of Cat's Dyrads too

Some painted (and in focus! Mantic are spoiling us!) photos of the orc regiment:

command parts:

lonely orc:

Not a massive fan of the painting style, verdigris is over used these days, but the miniatures are actually looking VERY nice. If I were to collect a whole fantasy army at the moment I think it'd be these guys. They look nice and chunky but not so much that their anatomy suffers.

Looks like some proper orcs, indeed. Now..if just Mantic could make a generic "adventurer" box.. *drools*

Yes they really should, humans must be on the way but some plastic adventurers would probably be a big seller.

I have put forth the suggestion to them, maybe it time to pester them again

Re: Mantic Orcs coming soon.

Pester them! I might be convinced to draw out a concept sketch for an idea I've had for multi-part adventurers, might get Mantic more into the idea!

Not sure if it would fit into their idea of miniatures, seems they have mostly battletroops atm - but a group of human mercenaries could work ?

possibly not for their main game but they seem keen on releasing hero-quest style miniatures board games, you definitely need some heroes to do that.
