Howdy People

Hi everyone.

I'm gonna be honest, I hope you don't lynch me straight away, but I've always found people that do gaming to be quite scary and geeky. As you've probably guessed I've never been into gaming or painting. So you are probably wondering why I'm on this site now.

Well when I was a lad I did have one game that I loved playing and that was Space Crusade. Quite naively I never put it in the same bracket. Until recently I'd forgotten all about it. Then I decided to buy my childhood back. I then found this site with all of the adaptions and ideas for it (must admit I think its awesome work). and I've started to paint the figures (badly). I've now got interested in the backstory to SC and I'm addicted to the horus heresy now.

I'm embarassed to admit I still shy away from GW shops. but I'm quite tempted to try a 40k game (if i can get to grips with all the rules)

Anyway I hope I've not offended anyone, I'm willing to learn the errors of my ways, if you guys are willing to teach me.

Hi Jax.

Don't worry, it took me a long time to walk into a Games Workshop store on my own!

We try not to be scary here for that reason (or at least I do) lol and there's no such thing as a stupid question, feel free to ask what you like.  I cannot promise we'll know the answer but we'll be able to point you at the right places to look!

I've been painting and gaming for over 20 years, and I won't go into a GW they are just a bit too gimpy for my liking.

Personally I'd recommend for sake of your wallet to continue shying away from GW stores. If you like the idea of 40k, but don't want to have to deal with the super-thick rule-books and the immense cost of it all, I highly recommend you instead look into WarPath by Mantic Games. Not only are the Warpath rules a lot more strait-forward and easy to learn, but you'll also find the miniatures are much better value for money and high quality too!
