How I got a Predator from a Vindicator

I recently realized that the Vindicator model is in fact a Rhino with some stuff on. Yes, I know... I reinvented the wheel... But since my Vindicator was an already assembled second hand deal, I always thought it was a totally different model...

So, when a friend of mine told me the truth and I realized to have another tank trapped in a Vindicator, I disassembled the model and I started to rebuild the missing parts with my loved plywood.

^ I initially opted for a Razorback (to make the twin-linked lascannon I used the bottom of two pencils, and for the tracks I used a zigzag layer of a pizza box)...

^ ...but I realized that what I wanted was a sponsonless Predator (with a wierd vintage turret made with a bottle top)

^ As you can see, at a distance, it seems an original Vindicator, so this method works.

^ Mmmmh... an interesting combination, I must take the Vehicle Design Rules again

What else Can I add? Screwing GW over and making custom vehicles always satisfying me.

Great stuff! your plywood vehicle conversions never cease to amaze!

I think you've got most of the Space Marine tanks covered - what about a whirl-wind Missile Launcher?

White Dwarf 117 contained instructions for converting the old MK1 Rhino hull into the original Whirl Wind

I thought you might want to try something similar with you plywood and bits - the missile tubes on the multi-launcher were made from the underside of a 40mm monster base, to match the larger size of the new Rhino's hull you might want to use a 50mm monster base

Take a look at the Forgeworld site or some of the Imperial Armour books on Scribd. This will give you some ideas on other Rhino variantes. There was a surface to air variant that resembles the whirlwind (or you may choose to make it more like a SAM-6, SAM-8, SAM-9 or ADATs launcher), a command variant with a satelite dish etc

If you go "very old school" there were open-topped rhinos that were used to transport Ogryn -they could also be used for Terminators and a mate of mine was developing the idea as a fast transport for White Scars.

An engineer/techmarine vehicle might be an interesting variant. Canada has a nice version of the M113 that has an auger for drilling latrines, in addition to all the other stuff like dozer blades.

Thank you very much for the guide Mortis! As you know I like old stuff!
Initially I didn't want to do any other conversion (maybe I only need the sponsons on the Predator) and I think I don't need a Whirlwind in my army...

But now that I saw the picture you've posted, I have to do it. I must make the fucking Whirlwind!

mmmh... my Ultramarine army seems an IG army.
Maybe I'd should make my own plywood IG army!
Or maybe I'd must stop to start a new project every day...
