HeroQuest storage box

Sjeng
So, I've been slowly painting my HQ and D&D mini's, and I've purchased some extra mini's to act as replacements for the addons (GW Ogre battallion, Mantic Mhorgoth's Revenge box, a female barbarian, 2 yeti's, some giant spiders, LotR rangers as mercenaries). With all these mini's, and the extra game boards from D&D and Dragon Strike, I needed a bigger box to put it all in.
So I decided to make one!

here is the result: http://www.yeoldeinn.com/hqforum/gallery/album.php?album_id=18

(Hope you can view it there)

The bottom is divided in parts to hold my printed questbook, my small and large tiles, dice, booklets, hero cards, notepad etc. It also holds the 5 D&D boards.
The dividing strips are designed to carry the inlay box, that has all miniatures and furniture (not all in picture, most are on my painting table in shoeboxes atm).
I've kept some space for the chain that holds the lid, and the lid can hold my HQ board plus the 2 DS boards and the DM screen. I've traced the HQ logo on the top of the lid, and then burned it in!
I've also padded the bottom corners to avoid scratching any surface the box is placed on.

What do you think? :D

Impressive work

I'm going to suggest some foam inserts to keep all your nicely painted miniatures safe

I second what mortis has said either foam inserts or wood to divide the box in to sections that are the same width as the monsters bases.

Awesome job! I need something like that for my "Settlers of Catan" games. But I'm not sure I have the patience to make it by myself.

Very nice.
A shelf, differing sizes of compartments.  The strap for the boards is inspired.

You could rent this out as a flat. :)

I really like this.  I'm tempted to rethink the storage of my WHQ and AHQ sets.  Not entirely sure I have the skills to construct a case though.

Yup, really need to get some inserts soon. The box is getting crowded. Any ideas on how to do it? I have styrofoam (the white bubbly stuff) but I'd rather use the grey soft foam stuff. And I'd like to be able to get it in Europe ;)
I'm going to use the styrofoam for modular 3D dungeons, if I ever get around to doing that, that is... No time for anything lately...
