Heroquest. Warhammer Quest. Space Crusade. Space Hulk.
When I was 12, I saw older kids play these awesome games. I was so jealous it made my eyes hurt.
This memory stayed imprinted in me for 16 years, when I found a Dutch edition of Heroquest for 30 euros on a second-hand website. I did some research of the game, remembered that it was that epic game I had seen other kids play when I was small, and bought it.
Opening the box I was excited to find so many miniatures, all unpainted and in great condition. The Dutch translations of the rules and cards sucked balls, but I managed to track down the US rules in PDF pretty fast.
My friends and I had played some Descent 2nd ed, and decided it was terrible. Heroquest proved to be easier to learn, faster to play, and overall just way more fun. Thus my new hobby and passion was born.
A few weeks ago I began painting up my set, and in this, I have found a new addiction. I've already painted all the monsters and am ~50% done with the heroes. They're pretty bad paintjobs, but not "ouch my eyeballs" bad.
I also traced down a box of Space Crusade (called Star Quest in EU editions) and this drove me to search for the PDFs of the US rules and cards of this game. Thus, I stumbled on this forum.
I've already received a very warm welcome in response to my first post on another topic, but just thought I'd say hi here as well. Really nice forum and very high quality content people are sharing here :)
