Yea Blood Bowl still gets lots of people playing it and there are quite a few people running leagues (in fact a friend of mine is starting one soon – hence me recently adding a Blood Bowl section to the website). You tend to see ads for some of the more popular leagues in the back of WD. Of course Blood Bowl was one of the 'Specialist Games' and had/has an online PDF 'living rulebook' SpaceHulk apparently makes for a good computer game, I my self found all the SpaceHulk computer games unplayable but maybe thats just me. But recently a SpaceHulk game was released for mobile phones and several unofficial SpaceHulk Mods have been made for Dawn of War. Necromunda, like Blood Bowl became a Specialist Game and even at one point got a 'Re-Dux' rule book printed and got plenty of support from GW on and off (it even got a multi-page article in WD not long ago) But GorkaMorkA strangely got little to no support from GW. It was also the most short lived of all the 40k sub-games even at the time of release and GW stopped supporting it after about a year and a half after it's initial release. While other games got their own official supplement mini-magazines (Gang War, Town Crier, Blood Bowl Magazine) GorkaMorkA got nothing. Back in 2000 I sent several eMails to several GW studio and production staff about this and even started an online petition to get GorkaMorkA some official support. I even pestered Andy Chambers, Adrian Wood and Rick Priestley at GamesDay 2001 about it. There are penalty of GorkaMorkA fans out there, but GW has resined GorkaMorkA to forgotten history along with Warhammer Quest (which I'll talk about another time). And it wasn't long after GW stopped supporting GorkaMorka that the Orks found them selfs rendered useless in Warhammer 40,000 by the 3rd edition rules, maybe the studio just hate Ork players. It's at this point that if I were to say this in a GW store a member of staff would jump in and say “but you've got a Stompa Gargant now! Look it's got giant chainsaw!” GorkaMorkA also had a computer game in development for a while, but it was never finished (this might have had something do with being for the Sega Dreamcast though) Check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndLhrTw-wgA&feature=related to see the only remaining evidence.

What was the name of those humans on weird steeds you could use in GorkaMorka?
I always wanted to use the steeds as mounts for Nurgle-marauders for Warhammer Fantasy. |

Judging from your initial post I deem it safe to assume GW doesn't provide jack-shit in terms of GorkaMorka-minis even through mail oder?
So how hard are those mutie-steeds to come by? Also: There was a GorkaMorka scenario involving chasing big fuel rigs in the same Citadel Journal that the Halfilng Warband/Armylist were in. Want me to scan those too and mail them your way? |

I can remember there were a lot of additional vehicle upgrades in one WD, can't remeber which. Perhaps its time for Mr.Mortis to show off his pdf skills again?

Indeed, I have among many other things done some scanning of some useful material from old WDs. ScumDog47 has also kindly done some scanning of stuff from the old Citadel Journals.
So some time soon I will be sending a evening or 2 getting the scans cleaned up and compiled into PDFs. At the moment I’ve got quite a bit to be getting on with so far as this goes, I will get the Mad Mex articles scanned, but after that no more requests for a while. Of course anyone is welcome to post any of their own work here too, so if you’ve got time and you think you’ll be able to post sooner than me (which is a strong possibility considering the amount of stuff I’m working on ATM) then go ahead and get posting

G'Day folks, just thought I'd throw in on this topic.
We still use GorkaMorka mobs here at my local club... in games of Necromunda. The problem with GorkaMorka was that it lacked the variety that Necromunda had and that's what killed it and Necromunda eventually got an updated version of the vehicle rules with Ash Wastes, from that point on any reason to run GorkaMorka more or less ceased. Let's face facts, you primarily had two types of Ork (compared to 5 human gangs in Necromunda), a group of Ork-emulating Humans (who are more or less a weaker version of Necromunda's Rat Skins). The only standout features of that game which I've made sure our club has incorporated are the Rebel Grots and Mutie Raiders (I play Mutie Raiders as my main Necromunda gang). We use them as they would normally be played as per GorkaMorka rules only we times all the teef values by 10 to get an approximate value with credits. In terms of territory these two gangs will always have the Wastes and if they capture any territory they are forced to loot it, just like when you destroy an enemy fort in GorkaMorka. In terms of getting your hands on more resources, I still have a good condition copy of Gubbinz #1 (sadly the only issue in GorkaMorka's answer to Gang War). Sadly I don't have access to a working scanner, but if it happens I'll share it's contents, that is, if you don't find a copy yourself first. Cheers Rowan/LSWSjr |
