Giant Stag Beetles

No these aren’t from OtherWorld as everyone seems to keep asking. These are in fact from Ral Partha Europe's awesome Das Schwarze Auge Creatures range (BTW everyone who asked me; OtherWorld don't even make Giant Stag Beetles)

I did a small amount of green-stuff work to expand the Beetles integral bases to meet the edge of the round plastic bases I mounted them on and also re-positioned the head on one of the rearing-up Beetles for variety. But apart from that these Beetles are completely stock.

The Beetles were painted in several layers of smooth careful dry-brushing building up from Formula P3 Sanguine Base through Skorne Red to a mixture of Skorne Red and Citadel Blood Red with a final highlight of Blood Red. The eyes are Citadel Emerald Green with Scorpion Green highlights.

^ For Reference on the colour scheme I used this rather nice (but very difficult to photograph) real Stag Beetle preserved in clear resin that was given to me by one of my brothers

If there are any more, I want one painted with that black and beautiful purpley blue hint across the carapace!

Sadly these are all the Giant Stag Beetles I have at the moment - I think I have a few other giant insects of other types kicking around though and also some arachnids including a Giant Scorpion, Spiders of all sizes and a Man Scorpion (a nice RPE metal one I got for X-mas, not the crappy DragonStrike one)
