I'm not so keen on the flames of war figures but I've got stacks of 15mm stuff I bought to play Poor Bloody Infantry with. Not a lot of it is painted and even less of that is photographed but here's a couple of bits:
It is a british only vehicle (well British, commonwealth and Free Polish ect.), white stars were the standard allied recognition sign on the western front. They mostly disappeared from the sides of British vehicles after D-day but some kept them.
The key to identification is that the US vehicles tended to have the solid or broken white ring around the star where other commonwealth didn't.
The Americans used a later vesion of the carrier called a T16, it was pretty much the same as the larger Winsor version of the universal.
Winsor and T16 can be easily spotted as they are longer and have 2 full bogies with two wheels, the universal has one full bogey and the smaller single wheel one.
All in all though, the Americans didn't use the T16 in any great numbers, they weren't particularly good and the ones they did get tended to be cast offs from commonwealth units who got hold of the later Winsors.
Right, I'm taking off my anorak, its getting too hot :)
I want to die in my sleep, like my dad.
Not screaming in terror like his passengers
