Re: Fallouty jazz

I guess I need to put effort in;

The Nuka Cola machine was constructed out of boredom. I first looked about my room for something the right thickness.
I found nothing.
I considered getting three rectangles of MDF together, but it was late and I couldn't be bothered to go through the hassle.
So I found some cork mat, worked out a roughly correct size and proceeded to find plasticard. All I could get was the protective blank disc that comes on top of stacks of CDs, so I got to it!
I put the cork down, got my faithful sharpie and drew around it.. Then realised that I always fuck up cutting plasticard because my ruler moves...

So I whipped out some double-sided sticky tape to stick the ruler down with.
Anyway, cutting, gluing and such, I got a side of plastic to every edge on the cork. I got some thicker (and actual) plasticard for the "door" of the machine, and to use as the base. Easy peasy, aside from finding that I'd built the machine too wide and it looked wrong.

More cutting..
More gluing.

Anyway.
I brought these thin squares of transparent plastic back from work a while back (the things you see sticking out on top of it) and they were the perfect thickness for the finer details of the machine (and conveniently, if double-sided to the tops, allowed me to sculpt the ridges on top without any hassle).
So what you see now needs only minor work done, and perhaps an extension where the door meets the display just above the centre of the piece.
Oh, and it needs vents on the sides, but they're piss-easy to sculpt up.

I may work towards a Sunset Sarsaparilla machine soon. Before you try it, don't google it. There has been a version made on Dakka Dakka, but I REALLY do not like the guys versions. ;D

NCR is a Bolt Action German.
Captain Hawk is an Instant-Mold copy of one of Brother Vinnis "Ant Soldiers" that I used as a test-piece for full figure casting. Kind of a massive failure. Far too much extra bulk (Which turned out ok, I've written some background for his armour so it's believabley different!)
He's got a Warzone Imperial Regulars minigun (Loads of sprues on ebay, go have a look. Cheap IG for Marc perhaps)

The Nuka Cola machine looks great, I guess the next stage is to add the fins around the top bit and details to the front

a Sunset Sarsaparilla machine would be cool too, Ainsty Castings have some nice pieces in their Street Furniture range that you might find useful for Fallout terrain.

the NCR dude is holding that gun in a rather strange way

'Captain Hawk' is looking awesome - is that a mask or his face?
Great use of the Warzone gun BTW

I have already prepared the Nuka Cola machine for those strips on top, the NCR soldier is posed in the only way I could pose him for the things I had at Helix when I took the models there and Hawk wears a mask taken from one of the most cruel and brutal raider groups in the Texas region. c:
