Eldar Scrolls Skyrim. Three words that summarise brilliance. If you are sick of the usual shooting russians, being 'linearised' by tyres and constantly respawning then the Eldar Scrolls will be a tasty breath of fresh air. There is no boundaries. You CAN do anything. Its a fusion of beautiful landcape, exciting fantasy, combusted in a fiery ball of interaction and exploration. Please try it. You'll like it.

Ah but on the subject of 'RPG'ing and fantasy, I think Eldar Scrolls rules all

Fallout fulfils all of my fantasies, and where there are gaps and empty desires, Dead Island steps in 8D

I'm waiting to have a computer good enough to play Skyrim on! :) I'm a big fan of Elder Scrolls Oblivion and Morrowind (with the expansion packs). My friend bought the collector's edition of Skyrim and he adores every chance he gets to play.
(I didn't get far with Elder Scroll : Arena in the DOS Emulator, mind ... ) http://www.elderscrolls.com/arena/ Woah, just watched the crazy TV commercial on http://www.elderscrolls.com/ which has real actors. Somebody had a budget! The links between Fallout and Oblivion are very close - I believe it uses the same graphics engine and there's a very similar approach to RPG tasks/quests. In a shop I think I choose epic fantasy over apocalypse just because I had a bit too many ohmygodwe'reallgoingtodieinanuclearholocaust panic attacks in the 80's ;) I love all the humour in the design of Fallout though - like the public service posters in BioShock. :) I became engrossed watching my friend play it - the grim practicalities of survival, bottle-tops for money. Eep. Give me gold and shiny swords! :) What characters are people playing in Skyrim then? |
Well may you be blessed with a new computer soon! :) Yaah, Bethesda took a new approach to gaming with Morrowind. Before, it was tedious platformers that had repetetive levels, or games that were so full of mistakes it outdid the bible ! (Barring GTA, of course). And then the marvellous Oblivion, making RPG's a a headturner, and an eventual purchase, and continued enjoyment!
Skyrim was honoured with game of the year, like, 4 days ago with an average score of 9.5 out of 10. The .5 was docked because of engine failures. Skyrim lately, has been notorious for crashing on people. The reason is the engine. Its so undeniably vast. Fused with beautiful lighting systems, multiple interactions and a japanese Artificial intelligence engine, (Sigh) the technology was too much for a games code system, so froze in the meantime. After awile, the engine smoothens itself out, and starts to format the coding system correctly. I reckon its better to get skyrim on computer (Good for you wink wink ) as the computer can handle it better. I recently found out that Devs bethesda were polishing while still making it! They were well aware of the game breaking dangers that the Code threatened, so had to polish and re-format it for, well, lets say, a very long fucking time! I play as battle mage ATM moment man, partially because I like swinging pieces of metal, partially because I feel safe with a flame lit on my palm. ;)

But they had to rush it for Christmas.
How often does that happen? D:

The freezing man? Well it depends. If your xbox is reliable, or PS3, then I presume you'll be ok. (I have faith in mine). If its not, then It will freeze a couple of times and hopefully mould itself out :) If you have it on computer, then you shall be alright pal :)

Skyrim is a great game and so far is the best fantasy rpg type game I have played. That says a lot... I have been playing online rpg fantasy games since way back on the C64 in the early 80's... Anyone here remember the Ultima series of games?
I have a level 42 wood elf thief right now that is my main character, I also have a low 20's level redguard warrior and a teen level high elf fire mage. I used the bookshelf glitch to level a guy up to level 81, mainly so I could experiment with some of the skills from the skill trees and make sure I was making the right choice on my main characters. Too bad you can't play this online with multiplayer! |

or at the very least an option for LAN plays so you could have a friend of two come over and tackle that one dungeon or boss you are having a problem with alone, etc.
