So is anyone playing D&D on Facebook. I created a couple of characters last night and ran through it for an hour or so. In my opinion, it has a lot of potential. Opinions?

How are you going about this? is there a FB application for dice rolls etc?

Very, very intriguing.
Every time Facebook and D&D has ever been mentioned in the same sentence it's always led me to something that's little more than quiz or very basic list of encounters. This may change everything.... |
That's a couple of hours I won't be getting back.
Interesting exploration of all the different silly powers some characters in 4ed get. Very similar in actual play to some of those HeroQuest simulations. I thought it might be a multi-player player thing, but as far as I can tell you just borrow other people's characters for your party and send gifts and so forth. Might as well be Farmville, CafeWorld etc. Fun. (I think) The dragonborns get to sometimes blast things with their breath, and the wizard's arrow spells are not to be knocked. D&D with steroids. Thanks for the link. I was wondering what everyone was talking about. It would certainly make a good introduction to the classes and all of their special attacks for a novice (which in some ways with 4ed I am). |
You are most welcome and you are correct, it does miss that one aspect that we all love about dungeon crawlers and that is interaction with other people. You do borrow people, pitty you cannot work together for real. I like it. I just wish I had more time to play it, with so many projects on the table right now.

I think you've just ruined my life. I've got three characters running in rotation. I spent too much gold hiring characters when I didn't realise if you borrow a friend's character that they are actually free! It's actually teaching me how to play (the very basics of) 4th Edition D&D (so maybe my new shiny rules haven't gone to waste). (The really twisted thing is that suddenly I don't mind that clerics can use crossbows, and the breathing fire for Dragonborn in additional to a standard action, and that kobolds can have 26 hps ... okay, I do mind that, because it should take four frickin rounds to kill one frickin kobold.) It's all very wrong. I'm logging in every twelve hours to gain my extra gold. (kill me) |
