I keep hearing that the Vampire counts are in it
And then hearing that the vampire counts are landlocked.. I might avoid it

The ship models are quite nice, especially considering they are plastics
I rather liked 'The Black Kraken' when I saw the video but the other night General Biakal reminded me about these from Dystopian Wars I like all different kinds of ships I've seen in the game, they all have lot of character and very Warhammer-y and I'm sure Man-O-War players will love them - but the game is not worth the £70 GW want for it and the limited release push-push-push marketing is really unfair on players who might otherwise have considered saving up for the game. It's clear GW only ever think in the short term, ah much money as possible in as short period as they can manage and once the richer gamers have brought up 10 copies each you can expect to see copies of Dreadfleet on eBay going for 3 times the GW price. I think I heard that Dreadfleet will only be available at GW stores too, so the independent stores won't get a look in. So I urge you, if you're a real gamer (and even if you loved Man-o-War) don't buy Dreadfleet - don't let GW think they can get away with charging whatever they like. and also don't buy it because you think there's a chance that if it sells well enough they will re-release Man-o-War or bring back WHQ - GW don't work like that, if GW want your opinion they will use White Dwarf to tell you what your opinion is. And besides Dreadfleet is guaranteed to sell out because of the limited release and push-push-push mean eBay sellers will be buying multiple copies If you do like Man-o-War however, check out Uncharted Seas by Spartan Games

Yeah not sure what to make of this. Just doesn't seem to fit in with anything, seems as though GW is trying to fill the specialist games market with a bunch of crazy one off limited run games.......that sounds like a sensible stratagem.
I will say I do like the minis, they're nice but they're not £7 each nice! OK ok I guess you get the rules, for which I'd reasonably pay maybe £15 at most...so £5.50 for each small plastic ship....... |

Lets face it, GW arn't doing this to meet any market needs - only their need for instant quick sales, this game will be forgotten with in a year and then they will bring out another limited release game (maybe the next one will cost £80)

I just looked at "uncharted seas". Each starter fleet costs £35 and the rules are £15, so that's £95 for one game with no board, scenary or dice. Is actually making dreadfleet seem reasonably priced...
(ok, I appreciate the difference between plastics and metals).

yes it looks bad on paper if you put it like that, but consider this: Dreadfleet is boxed game with 2 opposing sides and limited re-playability (not to mention limited release, no future and no expansions), Uncharted seas is a game system with a multitude of different factions to choose from which will be expanded and supported in future In the Dreadfeet box you get 10 plastic ships of medium quality (5 per side), each of those Uncharted Seas boxed fleets contains around 7 high quality resin ships (with some metal parts?) plus you can build up your fleet ship-by-ship over time. £15 is a fair price for Rulebook, especially one of Spartans nice full-colour rulebooks - how much are GW's core rulebooks at the moment? (how much are the army books and Codexes now even?)

Actually, I'm also not impressed with the quality of the uncharted seas minis, they look quite blocky...
But yeah, I get your point about replayability, though my point was about price.
