Dice Tower

No idea what that is, but I'm thinking it's a wooden box you're going to paint to look like a tower or some kind of building / landscape for wargames, in which you can chuck your dice and they come out at the bottom, safely? not knocking over your miniatures. Good idea! How big is it?

But what about the thrill of watching your dice roll over and over....never knowing what it's going to land on.....over and over..... and knocking over some mini's in the meantime.....okay, I concede, it's a fab idea.

Yes, Dice tower for dice rolling. Especially if you have to roll a dice for every shot the squad is making so are rolling 20+ at once.

It is made of foamboard, cocktail sticks and a cheap mouse mat. The foamboard was A4 size and cut lengthways, so it is about 11.5" high. Foamboard is a nice material for this, since it has a bit of give, so the dice make a nicely toned noise when rattling down the tower.

Click on the thumbnail and you can see the full size image and other views. I'll try to take better shots at some point -I'm not used to photographing anything this large!

Dice towers are far from novel. Do a quick websearch and you will see some amazing ones (and sometimes prices to match!).

A novel idea I saw was a "saucer" to throw dice into. The clever part was that it was built to look like a pond or lake and would be placed on a battlefield as impassible terrain.

Hy everyone!

I'm watching this forum for a few weeks because of the floor-tiles. A few minutes ago I stumbled upon this thread. As luck would have it I started to reactivate an old hobby of mine a few weeks ago: diorama building and miniature painting. As some sort of practice, my first 'building' made out of insulating foam was a dice tower. A little while later I made another one, because I bought myself some special tool that is called thermo cutter. Via a hot wire you can cut almost everything out of the foam and I used it to make the second one a round one. Hope you enjoy the pictures, maybe some one gets some inspirations out of it!
P.S.: I started to give the towers names, for it gives some ambient note to it and I'm planning to make more in the future
P.P.S.: Though I'm not native english, I hope my grammar and my diction is not that bad. Thanx for considering =)
