DarkWorld Zombie

This plastic zombie miniature is from Dragon's Gate, one of the 3 games of Waddingtons's DarkWorld series - a group of board games which were clearly designed for the HeroQuest market, but had no where near the same depth of rules, strategy or even re-playability - the games came with lots of plastic and card set-pieces, a few combat dice and a fair number of miniatures (which bear a strong resemblance to the HeroQuest miniatures), but it was a case of 'all gloss and no substance'.
The zombie was painted in a similar scheme to my Dragon Strike 'Death Knight' (See Here for a picture) it's details aren’t brilliant by any measure, but it's a useful figure with which to bulk out my groups of zombies for encounters and a fair (if low quality) match for the HeroQuest zombies so it makes for a nice variant miniature in that case

Re: DarkWorld Zombie

Very nice, not a fabulous miniature but you've definitely done it some justice. What confuses me is why the zombies from these games are armed, I s'pose its following suit from heroquest but still it does seem very odd.

Re: DarkWorld Zombie

My collection contains a mixture of armed and unarmed zombies - while under many rulesets zombies are not equipped with weapons, I don't see zombies carrying weapons as a problem - I merely rule that the zombies are such poor fighters that being armed makes no difference to their attacks, they can't really use the weapons to any great effect.
I terms of purely visual appeal I like to see zombies crudely clutching at the weapons, tools or other things they might have used in life. Former-peasant zombies carrying farm tools, buckets and so on makes for a cool image when used as encounter, I like little reminders that the undead monsters attacking you were once humans, not so different from yourself - to me that is part of the horror of zombies, the fact they are not just monsters, they used to be people
