Chaos Warrior Conversions

This time it's another post of some miniatures finished a long time ago, but haven’t posted pictures of before despite having taken pictures of them a few years back with exactly that intention in mind

Here's 3 miniatures that have been in my collection for a long time - I converted and painted them circa 2003 and they have seen a lot of use in my games in the years since.

The top row of pictures are of my Armoured Chaos Sorcerer, which is a simple 'head-swap' conversion using a late 90's Citadel Chaos Sorcerer and a head from the Mordheim 'Hairy Head' Sprue. I love the pose of this model, it looks like he's shooting some kind of Magic Missile or Fire Ball spell from the massive crystal on the end of his staff, but he's got a massive sword on his back for when he wants to get stuck into close combat
In games he's used as a fighter/caster mix - deadly up close in hand to hand combat, as well as at range with spells.

The pictures in the bottom row are of 2 Chaos Warriors I put together using various Citadel plastic Chaos Warrior and Orc parts with a few parts from other plastic Citadel kits for accessories.
These conversions (and a few others I did around the same time not pictured here) were inspired by a heavily converted Mordheim warband representing the 'Possessed' faction that appeared in White Dwarf 243 as part of the recurring Town Cryer feature. In fact the article inspired me to do a whole tangent of conversions using Citadel plastic kits to represent all kinds of chaotic creatures for my games.
In my games these conversions are used to represent 'low rank' Chaos Warriors - without the heavy armour and ornate weapons of their brethren but still just as tough and brutish in combat
