as some of you may know, its been a tough time for the boys of the 349th AF(R). long strings of bad losses, even in scenarios i wrote myself to "go easy" on the lads. i got tabled more times than an ex girlfriend i had (and by tabled I mean fucked in a snooker table by two guys she didnt know) and essentially thats how i felt most battles, like i had been fucked in every hole buy two greek waiters circumcised members. what made it worse was every forum claims Imperial Guard are like some kind of super army for power gamers, the ultimate competition army. pictured: Imperial Guard high command so there i was, apparently with the hardest army, getting all kinds of battered. so i looked at these "leafblower" lists and compared them to mine. i noticed i was sort of wasting half my points by having a gunline AND a chimera assault section. it seems you either have a gunline or a hard hitting chimera force. i was also not putting down Russes as much as i should... pictured: my new list and when i did i was using all the wrong varients (punisher). sometimes i didnt take any Heavy Support choices at all. i was so in love with my valkyries and my vulture... and they just wern't getting results (except the Vendetta but even that has been erratic recently). What IS getting results is from what used to be my least favourite tank, the Basilisk. i have also had great results with the Manticore. so, out go the gunline veteran squads, the command squad sat at the back of the board sniping with a las-cannon now and again. the vulture, the ratlings, the sniper squads all gone. so now, in effect, the fluff is long gone and the cheesy "leafblower" list is in. i dont want to over power everyone, and i want to keep a bit of fluff, but i want to win now and again.... but the sad fact is since i have re-booted the list i have really had some ass kicking results. whats a fat man to do...?????? pictured: victory at any cost

well, the run of victories continue.
last night the boys played a mish mash of DA and BA space marines in an objective misson. the final turn- a vendetta with a veteran squad aboard zoomed at the enemy objective, the marines on that objective moved to assault, did nothing, the passengers disembarked, moved to the objective, took it, then flamed and shot the 5 man suad right up. tactical genius. i think im due for a fall soon!

TANKS for the memory...
i have a lot of stuff... a lot of models. but iv not got all of them through normal channels. there have been lots of wheeler dealing and stuff in the last few years that have let me create a big army in a short time. and on saturday through another one of these deals i dropped on FOUR leman russes... two complete on sprue and two that i had to use the internetz to buy a few bits for. now this leaves me with SEVEN russes which is like THIS but in 40k scale... and the opportunity to start a a brand new kind of army... THE ARMOURED COMPANY. the 2009 IA update from ForgeWorld had a free and interesting AC list which frankly scares me a little with its sheer smell of AWESOME. and now, pending a mail delivery from bitzbox.co.uk it is within my reach. the best bit is, you fuckers thought that i was joking... so i now have an excell document with a 1750 point AC army on it, featuring no less than 6 russes, 2 chimeras, a hellhound, a basilisk, a Destroyer and a Vendetta. 5 of those russes are troops choices... yes, thats right. you heard me. im my mind i have run through a few scenarios and to be honest the ONLY army i cannot see it totally rolling over is a MC heavy Tyranid list. there is more armour 14 on show than a Land Raider showroom and with 7 large blasts a turn, most of them at least AP3, only Terminators are a worry- and iv got a surprise for them too. but the title of this thread is: WHAT PRICE VICTORY. with absolute power comes a little responsibility. is this list fair? well, to be blunt i really dont give a fuck. what bothers me is will people enjoy fighting it? winning or losing are sort of irrelevant, but being fucking drop kicked out the room in a cool fun way can be as good (if not better) than winning with a boring "I win" list. I was thinking this as I saw a friend at Lenton on saturday with a mech/melta/vet list, not too different from mine (but much MUCH worse- at least i still have SOME fluffyness) or the million others... so getting your favourite unit drive by melta'd AGAIN by a slightly different list is dead boring. the sad choice is tho, with IG the smart money is on this cookie cutter mech list. so we all take it, and win hard. which isnt fun, often, even for the victor. but this AC list, which actually seems well thought out and sensible, is almost having a brand new codex out... very few people will have played it, won't know its strengths or weaknesses and might therefore be a bit stimulated, have a laugh and a bit of fun... i rekon thats fair, dont you?
