Before they messed it up.....

The Skald
There was 3rd Edition

...... and I've dug them out for the battles in my current campaign, along with some other Old Skool goodness

Tons of fun

Hello Skald,

The 3red eddition was big it was also the last time all parts of the warhammer universe were connected supported and linked together. Before the big shift to 4th and 5th editions or Warhammer 40k 2nd edtion.

3rd linked back Warhammer , Warhammer 40k , Introducsed Warhammer Role play as a seperate game, Helped expand 2nd editions army system points cost buying thing (Which was introduced in a fation in Raverning Hords, and WH40K 1sted ed.) . It also carried on the point that wizards are less powerful than worriers feasco, wich was started as an optianl rule in second edition.

Note that in 3red edtion rule book page 90, 91 , 92. There is a set of tables to role up different level Charictor Hero Types - Warriors.

From level 5 to 20 .

Level 25 is one single stat line [ This is what would be come the profile line progressing forward. i.e. one single stat line with all the personal profile stats roled into one number. In 4th and 5th editions.]

There is a mention of a mithalcal level 30 or hire level if you look into magic. On page page 145 the Create a wizard page only lists one line of states for each of the levels 5 - 25. In the more familiar 'one profile must fit all compation style'  or you will not be alowed to play spirit that has had wider followering since.

Oh one thing that 3rd edtion did for the last time was to consolidate all the worrior and armie profiles in to one book well 2 books to be presise Rulebook and Armies.  Not for getting the pleather of articals found in White Dwarf magazine.

The 3rd edtion was the expation and the of the middle game. 1sted ed + expation 1sted game,

2nd + 3rd middle game The link games.
4th + 5th + 6th Later game or new line game not connected with prevuse edtions.

From 4th edition onwards the warhammer game universe splite into seperate games.

3rd edtion was the last best chance for peaces.... NO No. That would have been Babalon 5

Oh how Crused was set a drifte in the ever expanding void of space. The Earth home world was wiped out by the plante killing plauge...

OH ummm.. WarHammer 3rd edtion.. Yes.

Warhammer siege is also fun it help link warhammer to WH40k 1sted for on last battle.
On page 113 is a picture with the same alien structures as Space Crusades wall partions.
Zoats  medum dinosaures are mentiond on page 93. They are they count as  2 humanoid modles.
Also Dreadnoughs and Large Dinosaurs are counted 4 Humanoid modles.

Note Humans Increase in size form Goblin size 20mm x 20mm as stated in Warhammer 1sted edtion to Ork size 25mm x 25mm  ie. Space marien size.

Here is some Christmas cher and hopefully enjoyable times for one and all.

Re: Before they messed it up.....

The Skald
Ahoy there Captin and seasons greetings to you

Thanks for the great write-up and comparison of the Warhammer editions (and "3rd edtion was the last best chance for peaces.... NO No. That would have been Babalon 5" made me smile )
For me, the playability of the rules PLUS the fact that they were still written for 'fantasy miniatures' and not specifically Games Workshop figures make them a gem.

Many thanks also for the pdf's (but I can't get the Siege rules to download - probably my broadband connection so I'll keep trying), they'll be very handy for printing off reference sheets etc

All the best to you for the New Year

Re: Before they messed it up.....

Captin Kabeered
Hello Skald,

Thank you for bringing  the problem to my attention. The links in the first post have been corrected.

Please try them and let me know.

.... Narrators vice " In  a land of un-certainty where their is nothing but darkness..." because I am to lazy to change the light bulb, I the voice over voice can read in the dark..... Har har I am reading this script in the dark.... Hold on its dark.... where is the light... Darn I need to change the bulb...

Mean while on a calm and happy sea scape Captin Kabeered waits while his adventuring buddies load down their treasures and gear to deck top.

What are your  thoughts about Armies and Siege ?

The Skaven from armies where used in Adavanced Hero Quest or at least their artwoirk was.
I have a sneeking suspion so were the rules for there Jazz cannons. I will need to do more resurch.

I have also corrected the links in this post:

You may well  enjoy the CC Cards conversion in WD 115 For WH 2nd 3rd and WH 40K 1st ed .
With a little work these can be converted into AHQ stats. I hope.

Happy New Year and enjoy the read.
