Battle in a Box. A new project.

So after a long time of not getting on with any hobby stuff I've decided to set up a project.

Slightly inspired by what The Skald did with Billiam Babble's "Inked Adventures Blocks" in so much that I'm trying to build some sort of slightly modular terrain inside a box file.

I'm also going to build up at least two forces that'll be suitable to skirmish on the terrain.

Currently undecided on scale and era. I'm not feeling fantasy stuff. Current ideas are: Wild West, WW2, Modern or Sci-fi. With all of them lending themselves to making a semi-urban or fully urban area to skirmish in, lots of line of sight blocking and cover.

Also undecided on scale, era may well affect this but due to the small size of the combat area combined with budget I'm thinking 15mm or 20mm figures will probably be where I go.

Anyone with any ideas or if you'd particularly like to see me try and do one thing with this then do comment away.

Re: Battle in a Box. A new project.

This sounds cool
I'd want to go 15mm to get the best out of the size of the boxfile, but 20mm (1/72nd scale) wouldn't be too bad, and the available plastic figures would be LOADS cheaper than the white metal ones (not that you'll need a lot, but variety's the spice an' all that).

Really looking forward to seeing how this goes
When men meet foes in fight, better is stout heart than sharp sword.

I almost feel a KS idea - if you can have a box file with either a removable side or a removable section from a side, you could place them side by side to increase the size of the battle field. E.g. WWII - beach, field section in one box, small village in another box.

You would then buy a fully completed box open the lid and away you go - would truly be a battlefield in a box.

Cheers guys. I'm still umming and arring over which era I'm most likely to do. I'm pretty much set that I'm going to do 15mm though as anything else will be a bit on the large size.

I was thinking the same thing today but it'd be easier to just build that from scratch rather than using the boxfile.
