Hello there my fellow members of the Lost and Damned,
Well it's been a while since I last posted any new pictures so I thought that I would show you what I have been working on of late. You can probably guess from the title that it involves a lot of tanks.
I think the last post I put up was of my Flesh Tearers infantry just before I deployed to Afghanistan with the Army. Well I have returned from the desert and decided to embark upon filling out my armies starting with my Crimson Fists. This army has been an on and off project for the last ten years and now consists of a full 100 man battle company, 20 scouts, 20 Terminators and assorted commanders, however until recently the only vehicles were two basic Rhino's.
One thing that my service in Afghan taught me was how reliant modern forces are on Armoured Vehicles for both transportation and as a combat multiplier of its infantry assets. In light of this when I retuned I decided to add some vehicles to my Astartes force in order to reflect a more balanced approach to combined arms warfare. This was a real effort for me as I love painitng infantry but loathe painting vehicles with a passion.
I had a lot of kits lying around that I had acquired for birthdays and xmas over the years but had never got around to building. Also my wonderful, super-sexy girlfriend bought me a massive Pre-Heresy Land Raider for Xmas which I wanted to field ASAP.
So I settled down with my tools, paints and most importantly my Spray Gun, the results are as follows:
In total I churned out a further 4 Rhinos, 3 Razorbacks, 3 Predators, 1 Whirlwind and the Land Raider.
Additionally I decided that with all these tanks tearing up the mud of the forty-first millenium that the Chronus upgrade from Codex Space Marines was a must. I looked at the model from GW but it was (understably) very Ultramarine-y. In light of this I went through my bitz box and assembled my own version in both vehicle commander and dismounted modes. I'm quite pleased with the result, especially as I went to great pains to match the components and the paint job. Inevitably when GW delete this character in the next edition of the Codex I will still be able to use them; one as a pretty cool vehicle commander and the other as a basic techmarine, so all is not lost.
Anyway there you go; if anyone fancies seeing how my tanks fared in combat then I have posted a brief battle report in the WH40K Sixth Edition forums on this site! Hope you enjoy!!
