Armageddon Basalisk

While moving my workshop recently, I came across the old Forgeworld Armageddon Basalisk.
I decided to have a bash at finishing it, i've got it to the undercoated stage.
I've not made too many improvements to it, its a pretty good conversion to start with.

The secondary mount is blanked because the dozer blade gets in the way.
I fitted the blade because I imagine it would be used to dig its own gun pits while on opps

The ammo box is a tool box thingy from a resin additions set for 1/35th scale tanks.
I don't like the secondary gun much, its poorly molded in comparison with the rest of the conversion, it makes the thing look too much like a toy rather than the model it is

Nice! I've always thought Basalisk's worked better as inclosed vehicle, nice details as you'd expect from a FW piece. I look forward to seeing your work on it, what colour scheme do you have in mind?

I can see why you 'blanked out' the forward weapon mount, but it has left you with an odd flat spot that lacks the detail of the rest of the hull, adding a rivet at each corner should sort that out though. Maybe you could mount the secondary else where on the vehicle, there seems to be plenty of room on the gun-covering-bit

have you seen Mark RG's Basalisk Conversion (and other tanks!)

Marks Basalisk conversion is ver Israeli in style, it puts me in mind of the mobile arty they developed on old sherman chassis.
I can sort of see what you mean about the blank space, but sometimes on modern armour you get blank spaces.
I added the smoke dischargers to it just to break it up a little, I don't want it to end up looking overdone and cartoonish which is very easy if I let myself go.
Paint wise, I'm thinking something desert like, possibly with a splinter pattern to it, I'll have to trawl the references and see what I can come up with, but finishing the Bneblade for my mate Steve takes priority, and I've got to finish a Blog for Military modelling's website, so the hobby is a bit like a job at the minute.
